Founder's note

Foklore was born from a love of craft, heritage, and the quiet stories passed through generations.

It began with a feeling — one I’d get whenever I travelled or came across something handmade. There’s something magnetic about the way people express themselves through what they create. You can sense the story in the weight of a metal engraving or the weave of hand-dyed fabric — quiet, but unforgettable.

Across the world, I find beauty not just in places, but in what people make: the storytelling dots of Australian Aboriginal art, the fine embroidery of India, Japanese indigo dyeing, Egyptian metalwork, European tapestries, First Nations weaving, and hand-thrown ceramics from the Mediterranean. These aren’t just traditions — they’re living expressions of identity.

I grew up in India, and I now live in multicultural Australia — surrounded by people from every corner of the world. My appreciation for cultural exchange only deepens with time.

And I often wonder: we’ve embraced each other’s food so naturally... but what if we also embraced each other’s heritage, design, and craftsmanship? Shouldn’t our fashion and lifestyle reflect the global, connected society we live in?
